Decade, a Brazilian wealth-management startup set up by former Nubank executives, came out of stealth on 4 August 2026 and said it had raised an $85m seed round, about R$440m. The company described it as the largest seed round ever raised in Latin America.
US investors Greenoaks, Benchmark and Diffusion backed the round, and Brazilian firms Atlantico and Norte Ventures also took part, according to Brazil Journal and Forbes Brasil. Startups.com.br reported that the three US firms led the round. No valuation was disclosed.
Forbes Brasil said the previous regional record had been the $40m seed round raised by Pax, an AI startup working on public safety. The Next Web pointed out that Decade had raised the money while it was still running a waitlist and had not yet launched a product to the public.
“Financial services are complex by design and often monetised through asymmetry of information. AI collapses that asymmetry.”Felipe Meneses, Co-founder and Head of AI, Decade
What Decade does
Decade calls its service "Wealth Intelligence": human financial advisers working with AI to guide clients through spending, saving and investment decisions. Clients connect their bank and investment accounts through Open Finance, Brazil's financial data-sharing system, and receive a consolidated view of their wealth broken down by asset class, risk and geography, including the fees on each product, according to Startups.com.br.
An AI layer then monitors investments and spending around the clock and flags issues such as high-fee products, changes in risk, forgotten subscriptions or unusual spending. Clients can run simulations on their actual portfolio and speak to a human adviser when needed. Brazil Journal reported that the adviser can be reached on WhatsApp and will handle any order execution once the platform adds that function.
The service costs a flat R$200 (about $39) a month, according to Brazil Journal, which said Decade also offers an invitation-only product that competes with multi-family offices and private banks. The company had been running a beta with a small number of clients for six months. Forbes Brasil reported that Decade said it already tracked several billion reais of assets for that restricted group. The waitlist opened on the day of the announcement.
The founders
Chief executive Vitor Olivier joined Nubank when the digital bank had five employees and no customers, Forbes Brasil reported. He spent almost 12 years there, rising to chief technology officer, and left in August 2025, according to Brazil Journal.
Co-founder Felipe Meneses, Decade's head of AI, previously co-founded Hyperplane, an AI startup that Nubank acquired. The Next Web said he was the first Brazilian to be named a Thiel Fellow.
Brazil Journal reported that Decade was founded in 2025. Accounts of when the money arrived differ: Brazil Journal said it came in the previous September, while Olivier told Startups.com.br that the round closed at the end of 2025 and that part of it paid for 11 months of development in stealth. Startups.com.br reported that the company had 26 employees.
What the money is for
Olivier told Startups.com.br that people and AI were the company's largest costs and would be the focus of spending in this first phase. He said Decade had no customer projections or growth targets for now and would concentrate on building a product that users valued. He told Forbes Brasil that the main goal was a high-quality service and that growth would follow.
Julio Vasconcellos, founding partner of Atlantico, told Forbes Brasil that the size of the round reflected investors' view that wealth management and financial planning would be the biggest opportunity in financial services over the next decade. Neil Mehta of Greenoaks said Nubank had cut banking fees for tens of millions of people but that investing had not yet had its turn, The Next Web reported.
The Next Web noted that Greenoaks and Benchmark had earlier backed Pax, the holder of the previous record, and that Decade's model still had to show it could beat cheaper automated investment services.
