Integral, a Berlin company that provides accounting, tax and payroll services to small and medium-sized businesses using AI agents, raised €18m (about $20.8m) in a Series A round announced on 16 September 2026.

The round was co-led by Mosaic Ventures and investor Reid Hoffman. Existing investors Cherry Ventures, General Catalyst and Puzzle Ventures also took part and, according to the company, increased their commitment.

The round takes Integral's total funding to more than €30m (about $34.7m). The company did not disclose a valuation.

“With AI, it's possible to rebuild industries from the ground up, not just sell better software. In accounting, tax and payroll, the need is obvious as labour shortages are only getting worse. Integral is uniquely well positioned to solve that problem in Germany and beyond.”Chandar Lal, Partner, Mosaic Ventures

What Integral does

Integral was founded in 2024 by chief executive Lukas Zörner and chief technology officer Anil Can Baykal, who had previously worked on banking and payments products for businesses. In a post announcing the round, Zörner wrote that founders they spoke to repeatedly complained about bookkeeping backlogs, payroll errors and overstretched tax advisers.

Rather than selling software to accounting firms, Integral built a platform meant to run a whole licensed practice. Integral Tax, an affiliated licensed audit and tax firm, operates on that platform. The company's AI agents reconcile invoices with bank transactions, prepare account postings and prepare payroll runs and tax filings, while licensed professionals at Integral Tax review the work, handle exceptions and sign every filing. Corrections the professionals make are fed back into the system.

Integral describes itself as an "AI-native services" company, delivering the finished service rather than tools for existing providers. It said German rules on professional secrecy, licensing and personal liability set out where a person has to stay in the process, and that it automates the work around those points.

Early results

Integral did not disclose revenue, client numbers or headcount. It said that since the start of 2026 the professionals at Integral Tax had doubled the number of clients each of them can serve, and that for many clients monthly accounting turnaround had fallen from weeks to hours. According to Tech.eu, the company said its agents prepare bookkeeping end to end for more than half of its clients. These figures were provided by the company.

The company is targeting a shortage of qualified staff in Germany's accounting and tax sector, where firms turn away new clients because they cannot hire enough people. Chandar Lal, a partner at Mosaic Ventures, said labour shortages in accounting, tax and payroll were getting worse. Hoffman said Integral's agents extend the reach of licensed professionals rather than replacing them.

What the money is for

Integral said the Series A would pay for three things: deeper automation of more complex accounting, tax and payroll cases; hiring AI engineers, licensed tax professionals and commercial staff; and new services beyond its current accounting, tax and payroll offering. It did not say what those services would be.

The company started in Germany, which it described as one of the most demanding accounting and tax regimes, and said the shortage of licensed professionals it is addressing exists across Europe.

The funding so far

In November 2025 Integral bought cleverlohn, a German digital payroll provider, and announced new funding from General Catalyst, Cherry Ventures and Puzzle Ventures. According to Tech.eu, that brought its total funding at the time to €12m (about $13.9m); the size of that round was not disclosed.
