“We're at a seminal moment in our country's fight against cardiovascular disease.”Ian Koons, CEO and Co-Founder, Karoo Health
What Karoo does
Karoo describes its product as an AI-native operating system for cardiovascular care. It combines clinical, insurance claims, pharmacy and patient data so that health plans, cardiology practices and patients work from the same information. The aim is to find cardiovascular risk earlier and coordinate care.
Ian Koons is co-founder and chief executive. The company did not name other founders, state a founding year or disclose its headcount.
Reach and results
Karoo said its network covers more than 600 cardiology providers across 11 states, and that it runs programmes with national and regional health plans, none of which it named. More health plan partnerships are due to launch later in 2026.
The company reported results from deployed programmes, based on independent analyses: a reduction of more than 40% in emergency department visits and inpatient admissions, and a reduction of more than 10% in total cost of care in early results across attributed patient populations. Pulse 2.0 noted that results may vary. These figures are company-cited and have not been verified here.
What the money is for
The company will spend the proceeds on its predictive models and clinical signal detection, on care coordination infrastructure and on growing its engineering and clinical teams. It also plans to scale deployments with payers and providers and to grow partnerships with health plans and cardiology practices across the United States.
Koons said the company is at a seminal moment in the country's fight against cardiovascular disease. Shapiro of 7wire said the challenge in cardiovascular care is not a shortage of innovation, and that Karoo is creating the connective layer that lets care teams act on a complete picture of each patient.
The investors
Stolte of Allumia said his firm had been waiting for a company with the technology, clinical vision and leadership team to address the problem. The company did not disclose earlier funding rounds, so no history is included here.
How the platform works
HIT Consultant described Karoo as an AI-native connective platform that integrates clinical electronic health record data, claims history, pharmacy records and care team inputs. Its signal detection surfaces early warning indicators of worsening heart failure or cardiovascular risk, and its care coordination links primary care physicians, independent cardiologists and health plan care managers.
Population analytics help cardiology groups manage risk-bearing contracts and reduce the total cost of care, the report said. Shapiro said the fragmentation in cardiovascular care is precisely the kind of problem the right technology can solve. Koons said the company intends to use the capital to take another major step in its mission, in remarks quoted in part by HIT Consultant.
