Kind Designs, a Miami climate-resilience company that 3D-prints seawall panels, closed a $10m Pre-Series A round at a $70m valuation, it announced on 16 July 2026. The company had set out to raise $5m and doubled the round after oversubscription. Total funding is now $21.5m.
Investors named in the announcement include Mark Cuban and former Washington, D.C. mayor Adrian Fenty, who both returned, plus NBA forward Kyle Kuzma as a new backer, NY Angels and TaMiami. No lead investor was named.

What Kind Designs does
3D Printing Industry reported that the company prints concrete seawall panels on large robotic systems. Instead of flat cast slabs, the panels have textured surfaces and cavities that host marine organisms while still acting as a barrier against waves, flooding and erosion. The company claims panels print up to 20 times faster than conventional methods.
Its products are Living Seawalls, Living Seawall Tiles that retrofit existing walls, 3D-printed artificial reefs and living shorelines. Anya Freeman is founder and chief executive.
Revenue and projects
The announcement gave 2025 revenue of $1m, contracted revenue of $10m and an active pipeline of $175m. These are company figures. Installations include sites in Miami Beach such as the Fontainebleau, Pagani and Ritz-Carlton, and municipal work in Miami Shores and Longboat Key. The first projects outside Florida are in New York City, Charleston and Nassau.
The company also won a $2m US Navy contract, its first federal defence work, according to 3D Printing Industry. Miami-Dade County has granted expedited permitting and environmental mitigation exemptions for its systems, and Florida's governor signed a bill directing the state environmental agency to create adoption incentives for living seawalls.
What the money is for
Kind Designs plans to expand into New York and California, where it is pursuing coastal erosion and rail protection work. It will triple factory capacity by adding robots and production lines, fund working capital for large municipal and federal projects and hire engineering and operations staff. Headcount was not disclosed.
Freeman said the seawall industry is a multi-hundred-billion-dollar market that has never had a true technology company. Cuban said Kind Designs continues to cement itself as a leading innovator in coastal resiliency.
Investor demand and the pitch
3D Printing Industry reported that investor interest in the round reached nearly $20m, which is why Kind Designs doubled its original $5m target. The report noted that the $21.5m total implies about $11.5m of earlier funding, though the company did not state this directly.
Cuban said most climate founders pitch you on saving the planet, and said Freeman instead pitched a chance to disrupt a large coastal infrastructure market. Freeman said the technology is proven and the demand is present, which is the basis of the company's plan to triple its factory output.
3D Printing Industry described the Living Seawall as patent-pending and named a Time Best Invention of 2025. The company's other products include artificial reefs and living shorelines, and it described opportunities in California tied to coastal erosion and rail protection. Headcount was not disclosed, and the company's founding year was not stated in the sources.
