Nomos, a Berlin company that supplies electricity to households through the brands of energy-hardware makers and installers, raised €20m (about $23.1m), it announced on 15 September 2026. Index Ventures led the round.
Angel investors Markus Villig, chief executive of Bolt, Daniel Dines, founder of UiPath, and Tomas Okmanas of Nord Security also took part. Nomos did not give the round a series label or disclose a valuation. Index Ventures now holds just under 16% of the company, Deutsche Startups reported. Dealroom named Bastian Hasslinger as the Index partner on the deal.
What Nomos does
Nomos is a licensed electricity supplier and balancing responsible party in Germany. It lets companies that make or install solar systems, home batteries and heat pumps offer dynamic electricity plans and solar export plans under their own brands, while Nomos handles procurement, balancing, communication with grid and metering operators, and billing.
The company runs these operations on its own software, Nomos OS, which it says uses automation and agentic AI to handle work that traditionally needs large teams, from forecasting household demand and trading power to metering and customer support. Dealroom listed thermondo, Energiekonzepte Deutschland and Svea Solar among its partners.
Its pitch is that rooftop solar, home batteries and electric vehicles are spreading quickly but most of their flexibility is not connected to the electricity market. Connecting them, the company argues, would let households shift consumption to cheaper hours and earn more from hardware they already own.
Nomos was founded by chief executive Stefan Gerbes and chief technology officer Nils Bitzer, Dealroom and Deutsche Startups reported. The sources disagree on the founding year: Dealroom gives 2023 and Deutsche Startups 2024. Nomos describes itself as a small team and did not disclose its headcount.
What the money is for
Electricity supply and solar export are already live, and battery and EV flexibility trading come next, Nomos said. The funding will pay for a larger team in Berlin to scale these capabilities.
Deutsche Startups reported that the company also wants to bring its products further into the German market and build out its technology and energy trading, before expanding into France, the Benelux countries, Italy and Spain. Nomos said its goal is to build Europe's largest power company by connecting millions of household assets to the energy market.
The funding so far
Nomos previously raised a pre-seed round led by Speedinvest in October 2024. Dealroom put that round at €1.9m, while Deutsche Startups reported $2.1m from Speedinvest and business angels, including Eric Quidenus-Wahlforss. Dealroom said total funding now stands at about €22m.
Dealroom said the round ranks in the top 7% by size among 149 early-stage German energy deals in its sample. Other German startups working on household energy have also raised money recently, Dealroom noted, including Ostrom, which has raised more than €40m in total, and Tibber, which has raised about $180m.
