Plinto, a Copenhagen startup that builds AI agents for financial controlling, has raised €2.9m (about $3.26m) in a pre-seed round. The company announced the funding on 20 October 2026.

People Ventures and Emblem invested, and Tech Funding News reported that several business angels also took part. Plinto did not name a lead investor or disclose a valuation.

“We're building AI agents that find deviations, investigate them and take action, so errors get fixed.”Jakob Nielsen, Co-founder, Plinto

What Plinto does

Nielsen told Tech Funding News that checking whether transactions actually match agreements and rules is still largely manual work for finance teams. Plinto's agents take over that work: they compare every invoice and transaction against contracts, budgets and internal policies, look into discrepancies and act on them.

"We're building AI agents that find deviations, investigate them and take action, so errors get fixed," co-founder Jakob Nielsen told Tech.eu. When the agents find a problem they can contact a supplier about an incorrect invoice, ask for a credit note or prepare a correction for a person to approve.

The software connects to ERP systems, banking, documents and workplace tools such as Slack and Microsoft Teams, and covers order-to-cash and procure-to-pay processes. Plinto says it reviews and acts on thousands of transactions every day.

Customers so far

According to Tech.eu, Plinto has paying customers and pilot projects in logistics, real estate, facility services and food production. In one area of a customer's business its agents flagged about 430 discrepancies a month, and at another client the system caught a duplicate invoice filed under a slightly different supplier name before it was paid twice.

"Many of our customers work with low margins, so even small errors can quickly add up," co-founder and chief executive Nermina Suljevic told Tech.eu. The company did not name its customers.

The team

Plinto was founded in early 2025 by Jakob Nielsen, Nermina Suljevic and Sebastian Rehnby, according to Tech.eu. Andreas Garnæs is chief technology officer. All of them previously worked at Peakon, the Copenhagen employee-feedback company that Workday bought in 2021 for about $700m. Tech Funding News reported that Plinto has eight employees.

Tech Funding News also reported that the company's first product was a business intelligence dashboard, and that the team switched to automating data checks after feedback from a finance chief and advances in AI in late 2024.

Guillaume Durao, founder and general partner at Emblem, said the founders know from experience how to turn complex, scattered information into a steady flow of insights. Magnus Stagsted, a partner at People Ventures, pointed to the team and to its view that controls have to start where a transaction begins.

What the money is for

Plinto said the funding will speed up product development and take the company into new markets. Tech.eu reported that it also plans to win more enterprise customers and begin expanding beyond Denmark, while Tech Funding News said most of the money will go on hiring.

According to Tech Funding News, the company also wants to line up its product, engineering, sales and customer success work ahead of its next funding round. Suljevic told the publication that the goal is for companies to catch and fix errors before they hit the bottom line.
