RapidPulse, a Miami-based medical device company spun out of Syntheon, announced an oversubscribed $48m Series B on 16 July 2026. Medtronic, TechWald Next S.p.A. and S3 Ventures co-led the financing.
New investors SBI Investment Company and the Florida Opportunity Fund joined, along with existing backers Santé Ventures, Syntheon, Hatteras Venture Partners and Epidarex Capital. A valuation was not disclosed.
“This financing enables us to complete the TURBO study, expand clinical experience across leading stroke centers”Sean McBrayer, CEO, RapidPulse
What RapidPulse does
The company is developing a system for acute ischemic stroke, the most common type, in which a clot blocks an artery in the brain. Its approach uses controlled cyclic, or pulsed, aspiration to improve how the device engages with and removes clots, compared with conventional continuous suction, according to the press release and Refresh Miami.
The RapidPulse system is investigational. The company is led by chief executive Sean McBrayer. The founding date and founders other than McBrayer were not named in either report, and neither gave a headcount.
The TURBO study
The main use of the proceeds is to complete TURBO, an investigational device exemption study whose name stands for Thrombectomy Using Pulsed Aspiration for Reperfusion of Brain Occlusions. The study is being run in the United States and Europe to support the US regulatory pathway.
RapidPulse also plans to expand its catheter line to a full range of sizes and to widen clinical experience across leading stroke centres. If the data support it, the company intends to seek approval from the US Food and Drug Administration.
Who invested
Alessandro Piga, chief executive of TechWald Next, said the company combines differentiated technology, strong intellectual property and an experienced leadership team, as Refresh Miami reported. Brian Smith, founder and managing director of S3 Ventures, said stroke remains one of the most acute unmet needs in medicine.
The press release did not name the amount of any earlier financing, so the size of the company's previous rounds is not reported here. Medtronic is one of the three co-leads.
Where the company stands
RapidPulse is headquartered in Miami, Florida. It was spun out of Syntheon, which is also an investor in the Series B. The company did not state its headcount or founding date, and the financing announcement named no earlier round amounts.
Clinical work is being run at stroke centres in the United States and Europe. The press release described the financing as reflecting growing recognition of the potential impact of the company's approach to stroke treatment. The system remains an investigational device until the TURBO data and regulatory review are complete.
Refresh Miami described mechanical thrombectomy as the removal of clots from blocked brain arteries, and said RapidPulse's pulsed aspiration approach is intended to improve clot engagement and removal compared with conventional aspiration. Piga of TechWald Next said the company combines differentiated technology, strong intellectual property and an experienced leadership team, and McBrayer thanked investors for backing the plan to expand clinical experience across leading stroke centres.
