Synapse Analytics, an Abu Dhabi-headquartered AI company that sells credit and risk decisioning software to financial institutions, raised $13m in a Series A round led by Partech, Wamda reported on 14 September 2026.

Algebra Ventures and Silicon Badia also took part. The round brings the company's total funding since it was founded in 2018 to $17m. Terms and valuation were not disclosed.

The company said it would use the money to grow its team, speed up product development and expand its presence in international markets.

“Our mission is to give financial institutions the intelligence and decision infrastructure they need to make faster, more secure decisions to reduce risk, unlock growth and build stronger customer relationships.”Ahmed Abaza, Co-founder and CEO, Synapse Analytics

What Synapse Analytics does

Synapse Analytics builds what it calls agentic decisioning infrastructure for regulated financial institutions. Its software lets credit and risk teams build, test, change and deploy their own lending policies, and test the effect of a change against historical data before it goes live.

The company says its product can run anywhere inside a client's own perimeter: on premises, in a private, public or sovereign cloud, or in an air-gapped environment. Its models run within the client's infrastructure, which it says allows banks to automate decisions on onboarding, credit, fraud and anti-money laundering without handing over their data.

Customers include banks, non-bank financial institutions, fintechs and telecoms operators across the Middle East, Africa and Latin America. According to Enterprise, more than 50 institutions use the platform, 24 of them in Egypt, and Egypt accounts for 47% of revenue. The company's technology has supported more than $200m in lending, Condia reported.

The founders and the round

Synapse Analytics was founded by Ahmed Abaza, its chief executive, and Galal Elbeshbishy, its chief operating officer. It started out in Cairo before moving its headquarters to Abu Dhabi.

Abaza said the company's mission was to give financial institutions the intelligence and decision infrastructure to make faster and more secure decisions. He told Enterprise that the round was fully priced, drawn down in a single tranche, and that it gave the company at least three years of runway. Enterprise also reported that the deal took nine months from first conversation to signature.

Elbeshbishy said the company was now working with banks and fintechs on AI agents that help build and refine credit policies and monitor loan portfolios in real time. "Our vision is to create the AI operating system for the new age of finance," he said.

Who invested and the funding so far

Lewam Kefela, a principal at Partech, said the firm was backing Synapse Analytics as it built decisioning infrastructure for banks across the Middle East, Africa and Latin America, and praised the technical depth of the founders and their team.

According to Enterprise, the company raised a $2m pre-Series A round led by Egypt Ventures in June 2022 and a further $2m in July 2024 from Silicon Badia and Abu Dhabi's Hub71, which it joined in 2023. Silicon Badia invested again in the Series A.

The round comes at a slow time for Egyptian startup funding. Enterprise, citing Magnitt, reported that Egyptian startups raised $142m in the first half of 2026, down 29% on a year earlier.
