VECKTA, a San Diego company that helps businesses plan and buy onsite solar panels and batteries, has raised $11m in a Series A round. It announced the oversubscribed round on 20 October 2026.

Origin Ventures led the round. Tech Square Ventures, VoLo Earth Ventures, Cove Fund, Catalyst by Wellstar, Engage, Emerald Bay Ventures, She's Independent Investments and Mobilize AI x Energy Ventures also invested, the company said.

VECKTA did not disclose a valuation.

“The most dangerous decision a business can make about its energy is acceptance of the status quo,”Gareth Evans, CEO and Co-founder, VECKTA

What VECKTA does

VECKTA works for the buyer in onsite energy deals. A customer enters a property address, and the software builds a business case and a recommended solar and storage system for the site. VECKTA then runs a standard procurement process through a marketplace of more than 3,000 vetted suppliers.

The software draws on more than 5,000 data points, including utility rates, grid emissions, outage risk, local equipment and construction costs and available incentives, and returns its result in under a minute, Heatmap reported. VECKTA's team then sends a standard request for proposals to prequalified suppliers, so each prices the same scope. According to Heatmap, the company compares the bids on factors such as the supplier's track record, warranties, equipment and ability to use federal and local incentives, then makes a recommendation.

Its customers include Enterprise Mobility, the car dealer group Lithia & Driveway, and the shopping-centre owners Phillips Edison & Co. and Regency Centers. Its partners include JLL, Voltus, Leap and Cascade Energy.

Heatmap, which first reported the round, said customers have signed contracts for 128 sites in 2026 and that VECKTA has analysed about 34,000 sites. Buyers pay an upfront platform fee and the winning supplier pays a success fee, according to Heatmap. VECKTA said customers this year paid 20% to 45% less than bids they had found themselves, and that its fastest project went from first assessment to signed contract in nine weeks, against a typical 12 to 18 months. Of the sites analysed, it said 37% could support solar or storage with positive returns today, worth $3.1bn in project value. Chief executive Gareth Evans told Heatmap that the company has been profitable for the past year.

Who invested

Scott Stern, a partner at Origin Ventures, said onsite energy has become a capital allocation decision for large companies, and that VECKTA had built its business on the buyer's side of that decision.

VoLo Earth Ventures has backed the company before. According to Heatmap, it led a $3.3m pre-seed round in 2022. VECKTA said it raised a seed round in 2023 but did not give the amount.

What the money is for

VECKTA said it will use the funding to grow its US customer team, build out its product, add partnerships and expand its supplier network. It also plans to automate the analysis of other revenue sources from onsite systems; Heatmap said these include demand-response programmes, grid services from batteries and sales of renewable energy credits.

Citing US Energy Information Administration data, VECKTA said commercial electricity prices rose by an average of 23% between 2020 and 2024. The company is betting that rising power prices and grid connection delays will push more companies to put solar and batteries on their own sites, and that those companies need help comparing options and suppliers. Evans framed the problem bluntly: the most dangerous decision a business can make about its energy, he said, is to accept the status quo.

VECKTA has not disclosed its headcount or revenue.
