Veridion, a business data company founded in Bucharest, raised $20m in a Series A round announced on 16 September 2026.
Hoxton Ventures, a UK venture firm whose earlier investments include Deliveroo and Preply, led the round. Existing investors Underline Ventures, OTB Ventures, Gapminder, Day One Capital and Launchub Ventures also took part.
The company did not disclose a valuation. It said it would use the money to speed up product development, grow its team and expand internationally.
“This fresh investment is a major milestone for Veridion and will allow us to accelerate product development, grow our team and expand internationally, helping more organisations understand commercial risk before it affects their business.”Florin Tufan, Co-founder and CEO, Veridion
What Veridion does
Veridion builds what it calls a live business graph: a continuously updated record of the world's companies, which it puts at about 640 million. It compiles the data by analysing signals from company websites, public registries, regulatory filings, online product catalogues, social media profiles and news sources, and tracks how businesses operate rather than relying on figures refreshed quarterly or annually.
The company says its data can be delivered up to 52 times faster than traditional sources and covers more than 30 times as many businesses. These are Veridion's own claims. It sells to market-intelligence, credit and risk providers, and its data is used in insurance, third-party risk management, ESG, procurement and supply-chain work. It positions the product as a complement to existing market-intelligence platforms rather than a replacement.
Experian is one of its partners. Jon Roughley, director of data strategy and innovation at Experian, said Veridion's data let the credit bureau add new signals about how companies operate to its models and score businesses it previously could not see.
In its announcement, Veridion pointed to disruption around the Strait of Hormuz as an example of a single event affecting trade, insurance exposure and supply chains at once, and said customers had used its data to identify suppliers and businesses exposed to the crisis.
The company and its plans
Veridion was founded in Bucharest in 2019 by Florin Tufan, its chief executive, together with Mihai Vînaga and Sorina Vlăsceanu, according to StartupCafe. It says it serves more than 100 organisations and has more than 60 employees across Europe and North America, which is its largest market.
The company plans to increase its headcount by about 50% over the coming year, mainly in Romania, StartupCafe reported. Roles include big data and machine learning engineering, sales and marketing, customer success, forward-deployed engineering and data analysis.
Hussein Kanji, founder of Hoxton Ventures, said decisions about companies still depend on data that is usually out of date, and that Veridion could become one of the most important data companies in the world.
The funding so far
According to StartupCafe, Veridion raised $1.5m from European venture capital firms in 2020 and $6m in 2023, which it used to enter the US market and develop its AI technology. The company has not published a total for all its funding.
