Anthropic, the San Francisco developer of the Claude AI models, said on 28 May 2026 that it had raised $65bn in a Series H round at a $965bn post-money valuation.
Altimeter Capital, Dragoneer, Greenoaks and Sequoia Capital led the round, and Capital Group, Coatue, D1 Capital Partners, GIC, ICONIQ and XN co-led it. The total includes $15bn of investment that hyperscalers had committed earlier, among them $5bn from Amazon. Crunchbase News reported that the rest of that amount was $10bn from Google, which puts the new money in the round at about $50bn.
The valuation was more than double the $380bn post-money valuation Anthropic reached in its $30bn Series G in February 2026, according to Crunchbase News. Crunchbase estimated that the company has raised about $125bn since it was founded in 2021.
“Anthropic is building the bridge between where enterprise AI stands today and where it's headed.”Alfred Lin, Partner, Sequoia Capital
Who invested
Beyond the leads and co-leads, Anthropic named AMP PBC, Baillie Gifford, Blackstone, Brookfield, D.E. Shaw Ventures, DST Global, Fidelity Management & Research Company, General Catalyst, Insight Partners, Jane Street, Lightspeed Venture Partners, MGX, NTTVC, NX1 Capital, Situational Awareness LP, T. Rowe Price and Temasek as significant investors.
The memory and chip makers Micron, Samsung and SK hynix joined as strategic infrastructure partners. The law firm Orrick, which said it has advised Anthropic on every funding round since 2021, acted for the company.
Alfred Lin, a partner at Sequoia Capital, said Anthropic was building the bridge between today's enterprise AI and where the technology is going. Brad Gerstner, founder and chief executive of Altimeter, said recent advances in Claude had driven large-scale adoption among demanding organisations.
Revenue and compute
Anthropic said its run-rate revenue crossed $47bn earlier in May. The company did not name customers in its announcement, but pointed to demand from large companies across industries and a growing number of individual users of products such as Claude Code and Cowork.
Much of the money is going into computing capacity. In the weeks before the round, Anthropic agreed deals with Amazon for up to 5 gigawatts of new capacity, with Google and Broadcom for 5 gigawatts of next-generation TPU capacity, and with SpaceX for GPU capacity in its Colossus 1 and Colossus 2 clusters. Claude is available on AWS, Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure, and AWS remains its main cloud provider and training partner.
Krishna Rao, Anthropic's chief financial officer, said the money would help the company meet what he called historic demand while staying at the frontier of research.
What the money is for
Anthropic said it would put the funds into safety and interpretability research, into more compute to meet demand for Claude, and into scaling its products and partnerships.
Several outlets reported that the valuation put Anthropic ahead of OpenAI, although the reports cited different figures for OpenAI's latest round. Let's Data Science, citing Fortune, reported that Anthropic had also confidentially filed draft paperwork for a US stock market listing. Shacknews noted that the round came while Anthropic was in a legal dispute with the US military, which had blacklisted the company after it refused to remove safeguards from its models for government use.
