What BeConfident does
BeConfident started by teaching English through WhatsApp, with AI simulating everyday conversations, Startups.com.br reported. It now also has its own app. Prosus described AI avatars available around the clock for text, audio and video conversations, and Startups.com.br said the avatars have native accents and respond in real time.
The virtual mentors simulate daily situations, give immediate feedback, spot patterns in a student's errors and adjust the content, the outlet said. It contrasted the approach with Duolingo by pointing to continuous conversation rather than gamification and phrase repetition.
The company has also launched BeConfident Labs, a research unit for advanced AI models in education, and is building a marketplace for topic-specific AI avatars, according to Prosus. Startups.com.br said the Labs unit has partnerships including one with Stanford University.
Traction
Prosus said BeConfident had about 3 million users and 160,000 paying students by the end of 2025, and more than US$10m in annual recurring revenue, with revenue projected to grow fivefold in 2026. Startups.com.br reported users in more than 62 countries.
Forbes Brasil put revenue at R$60m in 2025 with a target of R$300m in 2026. It said the company wants 90% of paying students to come from the US, Europe and Asia. Startups.com.br added a goal of one million more paying customers in the next 24 months. All of these are company figures.
Founders and funding history
BeConfident was founded in 2023. Robson Amorim is chief executive and co-founder, with Felipe Tiozo as chief technology officer, Felipe Silva as chief product officer and Luan Cavallaro as chief marketing officer. Startups.com.br reported an earlier pre-seed of more than R$2.5m led by Latitud in early 2024, plus more than 20 angel investors.
What the money is for
The funds will pay for expansion into the United States, Europe and Asia. Amorim said: "This investment is a decisive step in scaling internationally." Rafael Barbalat of Prosus Ventures Latin America said the firm invested because the company combines proven scale with meaningful AI-driven educational innovation.
Amorim also said that reaching a valuation of half a billion reais in just two years shows the market's confidence in the company's technology, according to Forbes Brasil. Barbalat said the global language-teaching market is worth billions and is still little explored by AI solutions, Startups.com.br reported. Forbes Brasil noted that Prosus also holds stakes in OLX and Decolar. The sources do not state BeConfident's headcount.
