Comp AI, a startup that uses AI agents to automate security and compliance work for software companies, announced a $34m Series A round on September 17, 2026, TechCrunch reported.
Roo Capital and Grand Ventures led the round. No other investors were named and the company did not disclose a valuation.
According to TechCrunch, Comp AI has now raised $37.5m in total. SecurityWeek put the total at more than $36m.
“The first generation of compliance software proved this process could be automated. Agentic AI lets us go much further. Security software shouldn't just track the work. It should understand the business, perform the work, and act as risk changes.”Lewis Carhart, CEO and Co-founder, Comp AI
What Comp AI does
Software companies are often asked for a SOC 2 report or similar certification before a customer will sign a contract. Comp AI's platform uses AI agents to draft security policies, collect evidence for audits and keep checking whether a company still meets its compliance controls. It covers onboarding, risk assessments and vendor reviews, and also offers AI-driven penetration testing of code and infrastructure.
Chief executive Lewis Carhart told TechCrunch that the software helps companies meet and keep security requirements but does not replace an independent auditor, and that people still review and approve what the agents produce, such as a draft policy.
The company said it has more than 1,000 customers across healthcare, financial services, higher education, professional services and software, including Corgi, Dub, OpenCode, Inference and Primer. It also reported 15-fold year-on-year growth in annual recurring revenue. These figures come from the company and have not been independently verified. In July, co-founder Claudio Fuentes told Refresh Miami that Comp AI had gone from zero to more than $7m in annual recurring revenue in 14 months.
The founders and the funding so far
Comp AI was founded in January 2025 by Carhart, chief operating officer Claudio Fuentes and his brother Mariano Fuentes, the chief technology officer. The three previously worked together on LeapAI, a workflow platform that grew to more than a million users over about two years before they shut it down. TechCrunch reported that the idea for Comp AI came from how slow and manual SOC 2 compliance had been at LeapAI.
In August 2025 the company raised a $2.6m pre-seed round co-led by OSS Capital and Grand Ventures, with angels including Sentry founder David Cramer, according to FinTech Global.
The company was founded in New York and moved its headquarters to Aventura in the Miami area in 2026. In July it had 23 employees worldwide, Refresh Miami reported, and it also has an office in New York.
What the money is for
Comp AI said the Series A would fund its expansion beyond compliance automation into continuous cybersecurity, including real-time monitoring, control validation and security testing across applications and infrastructure. Carhart told TechCrunch that a company could pass its SOC 2 audit and then deploy a new AI agent a fortnight later that changes its risk, which a point-in-time audit would not catch.
The company also plans to hire across product, engineering, operations, sales, customer success and marketing in Miami and New York as it pursues larger customers. TechCrunch placed it in a wave of AI security and compliance companies that also includes Vanta and Drata.
