Ema, a Mountain View, California, company that sells AI agents it calls "AI Employees" to large businesses, raised $77m in a Series B round led by Creaegis, the company announced on 23 September 2026.
Existing investors Accel, S32 and Prosus each added to their holdings. Ema said every major existing shareholder put in more than it had in the previous round. The new money brings the company's total funding to $140m.
Ema did not disclose its valuation but said it had more than quadrupled since its previous round. Ascendants reported that the company had earlier been in talks to raise about $80m at a valuation of around $800m; that figure was not confirmed by Ema.

What Ema does
Founded in 2023, Ema builds software agents that plan and carry out multi-step work across a company's existing business applications. Its customers mainly use them for human resources, IT and finance processes.
The platform combines an agent framework, a context graph that learns how each organisation works, and outputs drawn from more than 100 large language models, according to the company. Ema said its system reaches more than 95% accuracy at scale and that customers typically see results within two months.
Wipro is its most detailed reference customer. Ema said it runs an employee assistant for more than 240,000 Wipro staff in 65 countries, handling about 2.9 million queries a year across more than 100 automated workflows. FinTech Global also named Hitachi, ADP and PwC as customers.
Ema said the Wipro deployment cut response times on employee requests from days to seconds and raised employee satisfaction by 20%. The company did not say how many customers it has in total.
Growth and investors
Ema said its revenue grew 50-fold over the past 24 months and that customers usually about double their spending within a year as they move from a first deployment to two or three more use cases. It did not disclose revenue figures.
Prakash Parthasarathy, managing partner and chief investment officer at lead investor Creaegis, argued that few agent companies have shown they can work in production at large enterprises, and said Ema had built a product business with strong economics rather than a services model.
"Many agentic AI companies have compelling demos, but few have proven they can deliver in production at enterprise scale," Parthasarathy said.
Chief executive and co-founder Surojit Chatterjee, a former chief product officer at Coinbase according to Ascendants, said customers were running core HR, IT and finance operations on the system rather than testing it. Ascendants named Souvik Sen as the other co-founder.
What the money is for
Ema said it would use the funding to scale its go-to-market organisation, where it has already hired several senior commercial leaders, and to expand into the Asia-Pacific region and Europe, the Middle East and Africa. It also plans further work on its platform.
The company did not give a headcount or a timeline for its international expansion.
