Fact Base, the Tokyo company behind Zumen, a drawing-management system for manufacturers, has raised ¥4.5bn (about $28.6m) in a Series D round. It announced the funding through PR TIMES on 5 November 2026.

Insight Partners, the New York investor that also led Fact Base's Series C, led the round. Artemis Ventures and MPower Partners joined as new investors.

The ¥4.5bn combines newly issued shares with a transfer of existing shares, in which current shareholders sell stock to incoming investors and that part of the money goes to them rather than to the company. Fact Base did not say how large the secondary portion was, and it did not disclose a valuation. It puts its total fundraising to date at ¥11.25bn (about $71.4m).

What Zumen does

Zumen is cloud software that ties engineering drawings to the documents built around them, including quotes, work instructions, videos and CAD data. Its AI reads the text on drawings and finds similar ones, and the system also handles quotes, invoices and payment tracking. Fact Base says it offers access controls, audit logs, single sign-on and multi-factor authentication, and it holds ISMS information-security certification.

The company sells mainly to small and mid-sized manufacturers. The Bridge cited Wakou Machining, a mould and parts maker in Handa, Aichi prefecture, with two employees and one part-timer. It reportedly cut the time to prepare a quote from about 15 minutes to about three by having Zumen's AI pull part names from drawings sent by email.

According to The Bridge, take-up has been rising among smaller manufacturers, down to small machine shops.

Growth so far

Fact Base said its revenue grew 2.3 times and its Zumen customer count 2.2 times over the past year. It did not disclose revenue figures. Zumen is used in 14 countries including Japan, and the company has four offices in Japan and 11 abroad. It did not disclose its headcount.

The company was founded in September 2022 and is based in Roppongi, Tokyo. Its chief executive, Masataka Takeuchi, said in the release that technology could still solve many large problems in Japanese manufacturing.

What the money is for

Fact Base said it would spend most of the money on hiring and sales outside Japan. It also plans to keep developing Zumen's technology and features, start new businesses to broaden its revenue, and build up its back office and governance as it runs a more international operation.

The plans continue the focus of the previous round: Sogyo Techo reported that the Series C money was also earmarked for hiring abroad, along with marketing tailored to local markets.

The funding so far

Insight Partners first backed Fact Base in its Series C. Sogyo Techo reported that the round raised ¥4.4bn and was announced on 27 November 2025, with the money aimed at overseas hiring and a planned move into Europe in 2026.

Insight Partners also led a ¥6bn (about $38.1m) Series C in Nealle, the Tokyo company behind the Park Direct parking platform, announced on the same day.

Yen amounts are converted at about ¥157.5 to the dollar.
