QNu Labs, an Indian company that builds cybersecurity products designed to withstand attacks from quantum computers, raised ₹200 crore (about $21m) in a Series A1 round announced on 9 September 2026. India's National Quantum Mission and Speciale Invest led the round. Sony Innovation Fund, Gaja Capital and Artha Ventures also took part, alongside other investors who were not named.

The round brought the total the company has raised to ₹375 crore (about $39.4m), according to the announcement published by The Quantum Insider. No valuation was disclosed. Co-founder and chief executive Sunil Gupta said that about 80% of the new money came from new investors around the world.

The National Quantum Mission's part of the round came through the IITM C-DOT Samgnya Technologies Foundation, the mission's hub for quantum communication. Its chief executive, Ravindra Barlingay, said Samgnya had led the round as a step towards strengthening the country's quantum capabilities.

What QNu Labs does

QNu Labs was founded in 2016 and incubated at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras by Gupta and Srinivasa Rao Aluri, who is chairman. It is now based in Bengaluru, according to OfficeChai and StartupTalky, and says it has a team of about 160 engineers, physicists and mathematicians.

The company sells hardware and software meant to keep encrypted data safe once quantum computers can break today's encryption. OfficeChai lists its products as Armos, a quantum key distribution system; Tropos, a quantum random number generator; Hodos, a post-quantum cryptography stack; and Qosmos, which supplies entropy as a service. QNu Labs says its technology is already deployed in government, critical infrastructure and banking, financial services and insurance.

StartupTalky, citing the company's filed accounts, reported revenue of ₹40.5 crore (about $4.3m) for the year to March 2025, up 64% on the year before, and a net loss of ₹6.2 crore (about $0.7m).

What the money is for

QNu Labs said it would use the money for research and development and to build up its sales and go-to-market teams in India and abroad. Part of the round will cover the company's contribution to a project approved under India's Research, Development and Innovation (RDI) scheme to build the technology backbone of the country's Quantum Secure and Sensing Networks (IQSN).

The company also plans to move into quantum sensing and artificial intelligence. In the announcement, Gupta said that implementation timelines for quantum-safe technology published across sectors in 2026 were moving the field from policy to commercial deployment. The release also pointed to a 2029 timeline set in India for the move to quantum-safe infrastructure.

Who invested

Speciale Invest is an existing backer. Managing partner Vishesh Rajaram said the firm first invested in QNu Labs five years ago. Gaja Capital, which the announcement described as the first Indian private equity firm to list on the stock market, joined the round; its co-founder and managing partner Gopal Jain said the company now faced a scaling problem rather than a scientific one.

Sony Innovation Fund invested through its Indian arm. Yoko Fukata, head of Sony Ventures India, described QNu Labs as a pioneer in India's quantum-safe cybersecurity sector and said the fund planned to work with the team as it expanded into global markets.

The funding so far

QNu Labs did not give details of its earlier rounds. The ₹375 crore total implies that about ₹175 crore (about $18.4m) was raised before the Series A1, as Fintech Global noted. The company has not said who led those earlier rounds or when they closed.
