Quantum Systems, the Munich-based maker of uncrewed aerial and autonomous defence systems, announced on 2 July 2026 that it had signed a $1.2bn Series D financing round. The round values the company at about $8bn on a post-money basis, which the company said was more than double its previous valuation.

Blackstone, Noteus, Airbus and Advent co-led the round. They were joined by a group of crossover and long-term institutional investors including BOND, Fidelity Management & Research Company, Wellington Management, A.P. Moller Holding and Elephant Lake Ventures. Existing shareholders Balderton and HV Capital also took part.

Morgan Stanley acted as exclusive financial adviser and placement agent. The company did not say how much of the round was new capital for the business or whether any existing shares changed hands.

What Quantum Systems does

Quantum Systems builds uncrewed systems for air, land and sea and a software layer called MOSAIC UXS that connects them. According to the company, MOSAIC UXS links its own platforms with sensors, counter-drone systems, drone ports and technology from partners, so that operators can run different systems as one network.

The company said its systems completed more than 19,000 missions in Ukraine in 2025. It produces in Germany, Ukraine, the United States, Australia, Romania, the United Kingdom and the Baltic states.

Quantum Systems was founded in 2015, according to Vestbee and Resilience Media. It is run by co-chief executives Florian Seibel, a co-founder, and Sven Kruck. The company did not disclose its revenue or current headcount. Its chief financial officer, Jonas Jarosch, described the business as combining triple-digit growth with double-digit profitability.

Who invested

Blackstone came in as a new investor, while Balderton and HV Capital returned from earlier rounds. Alongside the funding, Airbus Defence and Space and Quantum Systems agreed to deepen their strategic collaboration on European defence capabilities.

David Kaden, a senior managing director at Blackstone, said a structural shift in the European defence market had created significant demand for capital. Michael Schoellhorn, chief executive of Airbus Defence and Space, described autonomous systems as critical and fast-changing force multipliers.

What the money is for

Quantum Systems said it would use the money to expand production capacity, make its supply chain more resilient, scale deliveries across allied markets and keep investing in software and AI. The company said the funding supports a move from stand-alone drones to an integrated family of software-defined autonomous systems across domains.

The funding so far

The Series D follows two rounds in 2025. In May 2025 the company announced a €160m (about $180m) Series C, and in late 2025 it raised a €180m (about $210m) Series C extension led by Balderton Capital, which put its valuation above €3bn (about $3.5bn), according to Resilience Media. The two rounds brought its 2025 funding to €340m.

The new round comes as investors put large sums into European and US defence technology. The Next Web noted that Helsing, another Munich defence company, raised $1.8bn at an $18bn valuation later the same month.
