Runway, the AI video generation company, raised $315m in a Series E round announced on 10 February 2026. General Atlantic led the round. Other participants were NVIDIA, Adobe Ventures, AllianceBernstein, AMD Ventures, Fidelity Management & Research Company, Mirae Asset, Emphatic Capital, Felicis and Premji Invest.
Runway's announcement did not state a valuation. SiliconANGLE reported a valuation of about $5.3bn, citing TechCrunch, and Pulse 2.0 described that as nearly double the prior valuation. The figure is a media report and was not confirmed by the company.
What Runway does
Runway lets users generate and edit video from text prompts and other inputs. Its website now describes the company as building foundational models of what it calls real-world intelligence, alongside creative tools for video, images and audio, an API for developers and a robotics simulation toolkit.
In December 2025 the company released Gen-4.5, a video generation model, and GWM-1, a set of world models built on it. According to SiliconANGLE, world models generate three-dimensional virtual environments from prompts, and GWM-1 lets engineers create environments for testing robots and training their onboard neural networks. The same report noted limits: objects sometimes disappear in one frame and reappear in another, and changes are sometimes shown before the actions that cause them.
What the money is for
Runway chief executive Cristobal Valenzuela wrote in the announcement that the funds will pre-train the next generation of world models and bring them to new products and industries. The company calls world models the most transformative technology of our time. Pulse 2.0 reported that Runway sees them as a major technological shift with uses beyond entertainment, in areas such as design, simulation and industrial applications, and that the company plans to build them into new tools and workflows for creative professionals and enterprise users. SiliconANGLE added that the money will also fund model development and hiring of developers and go-to-market staff. Runway said it is hiring.
The funding so far
The round follows a $308m round in April 2025, which SiliconANGLE said reportedly valued Runway at more than $3bn and in which General Atlantic was also the largest contributor. The company has not published a total for funds raised. SiliconANGLE reported that Runway's customers include Shutterstock and Robinhood, and that in April 2025 it reportedly aimed to end that year with $300m in annualised recurring revenue. It did not report whether the target was met.
A crowded market for world models
The round lands as other groups pursue similar technology. SiliconANGLE reported that World Labs, led by Fei-Fei Li, was seeking up to $500m at a $5bn valuation for its Marble world model, and that Google introduced Project Genie in January 2026, a tool that generates 3D environments from natural-language prompts. NVIDIA, AMD Ventures and Adobe Ventures, all Runway investors, have also backed World Labs, according to the same report.
