What Saris does
Saris builds AI agents that carry out non-customer-facing administrative and support work at financial institutions, including lending, compliance and operations tasks. BetaKit said the company has partnered with institutions including Fiserv and MeridianLink.
The company's website says its agents work inside an institution's existing core banking platform, loan origination system, document repositories and communication tools, and that staff supervise and approve critical actions, with each action logged and reviewable.
Saris claims its agentic workflows automate up to 70% of consumer, mortgage and commercial lending tasks, with cost reductions of up to 35%, according to BetaKit and The Logic. Its website cites a case in which the cost of a lending operations workflow fell from about $2 to about $0.21, and a credit union home equity line of credit team that gained 2.5 hours per day per employee. These are the company's own figures and have not been independently checked.
Founders and background
The three co-founders are Danial Jameel, the chief executive, Alice Dinu and James Dang. BetaKit said they previously founded Oohlala Mobile, a Y Combinator-backed campus app company in Montreal that was also backed by GoAhead Ventures and Real Ventures. It later merged with the edtech company DubLabs and became Ready Education.
The Logic said Saris was founded in 2024 and is headquartered in both San Francisco and Montreal. BetaKit and Decoder described it as based in Montreal and San Francisco.
What the money is for
Saris said the funding will help scale its platform to reach more financial institutions. The Logic reported that it will use the money to grow the platform and add staff, and Decoder said it will support integrations and growth.
Jameel said the company's vision is a future where humans and AI work side by side in financial services.
Investor and market context
Alex Kolicich, a founding partner at 8VC who grew up in Canada, said Saris's platform delivers real, measurable results without disrupting the systems and teams that institutions depend on.
BetaKit placed the round against the backdrop of Canada's large banks, including TD and RBC, investing heavily in AI. It cited a KPMG study finding that 90% of Canadian financial services leaders view generative AI as critical to competitive advantage.
Saris's site says its customers include a Top 10 US bank where automation of core workflows is estimated to unlock about $27.8m a year in combined cost savings and extra output across commercial teams. That is a company estimate, and the bank is not named. The website also states average results of a 300% productivity increase and a 9.8 times cost reduction per workflow.
The sources did not give Saris's headcount or customer count.
