Scuba, a New York startup building a shared context engine for teams and their AI agents, came out of stealth on 13 October 2026 with $34m raised across two rounds.
Accel led the pre-seed round and co-led the seed with IVP. BoxGroup, Conviction, Homebrew and Scribble Ventures also invested. The company did not say how the $34m was split between the two rounds and did not disclose a valuation.
Angel investors include founders of Slack, Instagram, Stripe, LinkedIn, Salesforce, Datadog, Vanta, Harvey, Dropbox and Duolingo, among others. Born City named Stewart Butterfield, Cal Henderson, Patrick Collison, Mike Krieger, Reid Hoffman and Drew Houston among them.
“The frontier models aren't intelligence bound. They're context constrained,”Noah Desai Weiss, Co-founder and CEO, Scuba
What Scuba does
Scuba gives a team one place to collect what its members read and discuss: articles, screenshots, files, videos, message threads and voice notes, which are transcribed. Items can be captured from the browser, from other apps or by agents, and Born City reports that the tools include a browser extension and an iPhone app. Scuba then organises the material itself and tracks the team's knowledge, decisions and direction.
Saved items can be grouped into collections around a launch, a key client, strategy or a competitor. Daily briefings and on-demand sessions point out trends, changes and possible conflicts, and users can ask for feedback or draft proposals that cite their saved material and, where needed, web sources.
The same context is available to AI tools. Scuba connects to Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor through MCP, and to Slack, where it can be called with @Scuba. Weiss said in the announcement that frontier models are constrained by context rather than by intelligence.
The founders
Weiss was chief product officer at Slack. His co-founder, Dolapo Falola, was head of engineering at The Browser Company and held engineering leadership roles at Slack and Meta. The two have worked together since 2011, at Google, Foursquare and Slack, and Scuba is their fourth company together.
Born City reports that the company's legal name is Flashback AI Inc. and that it uses the product internally with a ten-person team. Scuba has not published a headcount or its founding date.
Who invested
Andrew Braccia, a partner at Accel, said in the announcement that breakthrough products can change how teams work together. Shravan Narayen, a general partner at IVP, said agents cannot reach their full potential without understanding a team's shared judgment.
Hundreds of early users tested Scuba in a private beta over the past six months, using it to build products, run launches, track customer feedback, develop strategy and explore new markets. The company has not named customers, shared usage figures or said how it will spend the money.
The angel list draws on the founders' networks. Founders of Slack, where both worked, are among the backers, alongside founders of Abridge, Granola, Warp, Zynga, Groupon, Coda, Opendoor and Flatiron Health.
