Taxwire, a New York company that handles sales tax as a managed service, announced a $25m Series A led by Headline. XYZ, Vinyl, Recall Capital, Nomo Ventures and Analog Ventures took part, along with hundreds of strategic angels, among them chief financial officers, controllers, founders and tax experts, several of whom are customers.
FinTech Global covered the round on 2 July 2026. The company did not disclose a valuation. This article uses the 30 June 2026 announcement date recorded in the funding data.

What Taxwire does
Taxwire describes itself as the sales tax platform and managed service that owns a company's indirect tax end to end, from registration to remittance, across jurisdictions worldwide. It calculates tax, files returns and supports audit defence, and it automates related accounting and compliance workflows.
FinTech Global describes the product as an AI-native tax engine that learns from a customer's invoices. The typical target is a business with $20m to $500m in revenue that files in 40 or more US states and in a dozen or more countries.
The company says hundreds of companies use it and that it has completed more than 150 migrations, including from Avalara. It says it remits about $100m in sales tax a year. AssetWatch runs more than 3,800 filings a year on the platform and Essor runs 4,000 returns a year, according to the company.
What customers and investors said
Taylor Brandt, a partner at Headline, said: "Sales tax is a trust business, and Andrew is the first founder we've seen build for that from the foundation up." The founder signs the announcement as Andrew, and his surname and title are not given on the page.
Jake Cochran, vice president of finance at Omni, said he is never going to be the expert but knows the tax is handled, so he can think about growth. Dawn Culhane, manager of accounting at AssetWatch, said Taxwire does not just calculate the tax but owns it.
What the money is for
The announcement does not allocate the funds. It says the round is meant to make indirect tax the company's problem instead of the customer's and to power every dollar of sales tax and VAT collected, and it mentions hiring. FinTech Global reports that the money will be used to expand the company's compliance infrastructure.
Neither source gives a headcount, the amount of any earlier funding or revenue.
Taxwire's page also says the company is hiring, and FinTech Global names the same lead and participants as the company. The page describes the round as intended to make indirect tax "our problem instead of yours".
Why sales tax
Many sales tax products calculate tax and leave filing to the customer. Taxwire's model takes responsibility for registration, filing and remittance as well, and says it also provides audit defence.
The announcement gives the count of migrations but not the share of customers that came from other vendors.
