Tendos, a Munich company that builds AI agents for the sales teams of building-materials manufacturers, has raised a €12m (about $13.4m) seed round led by Insight Partners. It announced the round on 27 October 2026.
The founders of Personio, Forto, Flix and SumUp also invested, along with other founders and industry figures including Stephan Tahy, a former chief executive of the bathroom maker Duravit. The valuation was not disclosed, and Trending Topics reported that the company did not disclose its revenue.
Tendos was founded in 2024. It has not announced any earlier funding rounds.
“The building materials industry is one of the largest and least digitized markets in Europe. Its sales teams are highly qualified but are drowning in paperwork and repetitive tasks,”Christian Sedlmeier, co-founder and CEO, Tendos (translated by Trending Topics)
What Tendos does
Building-materials manufacturers often win or lose orders on how quickly and accurately they answer requests. Their sales teams receive tenders, specifications, bills of quantities and customer emails every day, which have to be read, matched against thousands of products and turned into quotes. Tendos says much of that work is still done by hand, with staff copying data between inboxes, tender portals and CRM and ERP systems.
Its AI agents find relevant tenders, read incoming requests and documents, match the requirements to a manufacturer's product catalogue, draft quotes and process orders directly in existing systems. Trending Topics reported that the agents can read bills of quantities in GAEB, the German construction industry's data format. Sales staff keep control of decisions that need their expertise, and the platform learns from those decisions.
Customers include manufacturers in heating, plumbing, ventilation and building technology such as Wilo, Grundfos, Hansgrohe, Spelsberg, KSB and Kermi. Tendos says quotes worth tens of billions of euros in total have passed through the platform.
The founders
Tendos was founded by chief executive Christian Sedlmeier, chief technology officer Matthias Hilscher and chief product officer Daniel Kappler, according to Trending Topics. Sedlmeier was previously a product manager at the Munich process-mining company Celonis and chief executive of ivy GmbH, where Hilscher was also chief technology officer. Kappler was head of product at TradeLink and ran a construction tender platform at IBM.
Teddie Wardi, a managing director at Insight Partners, said the building-materials industry and manufacturing as a whole had been largely untouched by the first wave of AI companies, and that Insight had found deep product and process understanding at Tendos.
What the money is for
Tendos will use the funding to expand from its base in Germany, Austria and Switzerland into international markets. It also plans to add more uses for its platform in manufacturers' sales processes and beyond, and to move into other parts of the building-materials value chain.
Trending Topics noted that other start-ups are applying AI to construction paperwork and tenders, including reebuild in Vienna and revitalyze in Tyrol, while large software companies are adding AI agents to their own CRM and ERP products.
