Tractian, an Atlanta-based company that sells sensors and AI software for monitoring industrial machines, has raised $130m in a Series D round that values it at $1.4bn. The company announced the round on 22 October 2026.

Sapphire Ventures led the round, and M&G's Catalyst co-led it. N47, General Catalyst, Bosch Ventures, 53 Stations, Monashees, Endeavor Catalyst, Norte Ventures and Y Combinator also took part, a mix of new and existing investors, according to the release.

Hypepotamus reported that the valuation makes Tractian one of the first AI-focused startups based in Atlanta to pass $1bn, and that The Information reported the deal before the company announced it.

“When we led Tractian's Series C, we believed that combining hardware, data, and AI would give the company a real edge.”Anders Ranum, Partner, Sapphire Ventures

What Tractian does

Tractian sells what it calls an asset health system for critical machines. Sensors installed on equipment collect vibration, ultrasound and other readings, which the company combines into one view of each machine's condition. An AI system that Tractian says is trained on one of the largest datasets of industrial failures then diagnoses root causes and recommends what maintenance teams should do.

The company said more than 2,000 critical facilities use its products. Named customers include Eli Lilly, McKesson, Whirlpool, Cummins, Embraer and Coca-Cola bottling plants, along with unnamed data centre operators and government infrastructure. It serves pharmaceuticals, food and beverage, oil and gas, energy and water, defence and manufacturing.

Igor Marinelli, Tractian's founder and chief executive, said in the release that he started the company after seeing how outdated the tools used by people who maintain industrial machines were.

Where the company operates

Tractian is headquartered in Atlanta and has offices in Monterrey, São Paulo and Poland. It employs more than 700 people, according to the release.

Hypepotamus reported that the company moved its headquarters from the Bay Area to a new office in Midtown Atlanta in spring 2026. Marinelli said the move put the company closer to engineering talent and to customers in asset-heavy industries. Hypepotamus also reported that Tractian is expanding its internship program in the city.

According to The Information, as cited by Hypepotamus, Tractian's annual recurring revenue passed $100m in September 2026. The company's release did not give revenue figures.

What the money is for

Tractian said the funding will help it scale its platform and move from predicting individual machine failures to managing the overall health of critical equipment. It did not give a more detailed breakdown.

Sapphire Ventures also led Tractian's previous round. WilmerHale, which advised Tractian, reported in December 2024 that the company had raised a $120m Series C led by Sapphire, with General Catalyst, Next47 and NGP Capital taking part. Anders Ranum, a partner at Sapphire, said in the release that the firm had backed Tractian's combination of hardware, data and AI when it led the Series C.

Tractian has not disclosed how much it has raised in total, and the release did not say how the new money would be split between hiring, product work and expansion into new markets.
