Trent AI, a London startup that builds security software for AI agents, came out of stealth on 7 April 2026 with a $13m seed round (about €11m). LocalGlobe and Cambridge Innovation Capital led the financing. No valuation was disclosed.

Several individual investors also joined, according to Tech.eu and RegTech Analyst. They include Joaquin Quiñonero Candela of OpenAI, Avinash Bhat of AWS, Ippokratis Pandis of Databricks and Tony Jebara, a former Spotify vice president of engineering who led AI and machine learning there.

Trent AI said it will use the money to develop its security agents, expand its engineering team and grow its base of design partners and customers.

What Trent AI does

The company calls its product the first multi-agent security system designed to protect AI agents as they change over time. Instead of a single scanner, it uses groups of specialised AI agents. According to RegTech Analyst, scanning agents monitor code, infrastructure and runtime behaviour; analysis agents separate real threats from noise and rank them by business impact; remediation agents patch vulnerabilities and check the fixes; and posture agents track risk trends and benchmark against standards.

SiliconANGLE reported that the platform looks for exploits in customer-built agents, third-party tools and infrastructure, including simulated multi-step attack paths, and suggests code and configuration fixes that developers can apply in a few clicks. It also includes features for scanning OpenClaw agents and apps built with Lovable. The company says its platform detects threats better than existing security products built for conventional software, a claim SiliconANGLE presented as the company's own.

The founders

Trent AI was founded in 2025. Eno Thereska is chief executive, Neil Lawrence is chief scientist and Zhenwen Dai is chief technology officer, according to Tech.eu and SiliconANGLE. Lawrence is a machine-learning professor at the University of Cambridge. Tech.eu describes the founders as former engineering leaders at Amazon and AWS and at Spotify, while RegTech Analyst says the team's earlier experience also includes Confluent and Alcion, which Veeam acquired. The companies did not disclose the current headcount.

Design partners and the problem

Trent AI named Canopy and Weblogic as early-access users in the release carried by Tech.eu. RegTech Analyst listed five design partners: Canopy, Commscentre, ML@Cam, Qbeast and Weblogic. The partners reported quick visibility into their security posture and a security audit report, according to the company. RegTech Analyst noted that the article does not say whether any of them are paying customers.

The company framed the launch around a gap between how fast companies deploy agents and how well they can secure them. Citing Deloitte research, Tech.eu reported that 74% of companies plan to deploy agentic AI within two years, but only 21% say they have a mature governance model for autonomous agents.

Thereska said that organisations are deploying AI agents and autonomous workflows faster than their security can adapt.

What has not been disclosed

Trent AI has not published revenue, pricing or a customer count. SiliconANGLE reported that the company says several technology firms have adopted the software, but it named none. The $13m seed is the only funding the company has announced, and Tech.eu did not report an earlier round.
