Validio, a Stockholm data management company, has raised $30m in Series A funding, according to reports published on 5 March 2026 by The Next Web and SiliconANGLE. Plural, the European early-stage firm, led the round.
Existing investors Lakestar and J12 took part again, alongside angel investors Kevin Ryan, co-founder of MongoDB, Denise Persson, chief marketing officer at Snowflake, and Emil Eifrem, chief executive and co-founder of Neo4j. The Next Web said the round brings Validio's total disclosed funding to $47m. No valuation was reported.
“I consistently saw that, no matter how ambitious the project was, AI projects rarely reached production.”Patrik Liu Tran, CEO, Validio
What Validio does
Validio describes itself as an agentic data management platform. The Next Web explained that the software monitors data across an organisation's pipelines, detects anomalies, tracks where data came from and how it was transformed, which is known as lineage, and provides a catalogue of data assets. SiliconANGLE said customers include companies in financial services, manufacturing and telecommunications.
Patrik Liu Tran, the chief executive, founded Validio in 2019 after working as a consultant advising large enterprises on AI and data strategy. He told SiliconANGLE, via a statement, that he saw the same pattern of failure: projects with ambitious goals that stalled because the underlying data was poor. He said many companies manage data quality by writing tens of thousands of checks and updating them by hand as data changes.
The Next Web noted that Validio competes in a space where Monte Carlo, Collibra, Atlan and Informatica have operated for years. Validio's pitch is that its approach is faster to deploy, more automated and usable by business as well as technical teams, rather than only by data engineers.
Claims and traction
Liu Tran said the platform can be set up within days, compared with months or years for older tools. He also claimed that Validio needs about 90% fewer people to manage data quality than manual approaches and that it detects and resolves data quality issues about 95% faster than alternatives. The Next Web pointed out that the company supplied these figures without independent verification.
The company reported an 800% increase in annual recurring revenue over the past year. It has not disclosed the absolute revenue figures behind that growth rate.
What the money is for
According to SiliconANGLE, Validio plans to expand its platform and target customers in the US, the UK and the rest of Europe. It will also grow its engineering, sales and go-to-market teams. The stated ambition is to become the industry's leading platform for data reliability and a key part of the infrastructure behind enterprise AI projects.
The Next Web linked the timing to a wider concern that poor data is a main obstacle to enterprise AI. It cited Gartner surveys that identify data quality and availability among the top barriers to adoption, and added that a widely cited 2025 MIT report on enterprise generative AI pilots had been criticised for its methodology.
Plural was founded by Wise co-founder Taavet Hinrikus, Ian Hogarth and others, according to The Next Web, which added that the firm recently added former Uber senior vice president Pierre-Dimitri Gore-Coty as a partner. The sources reviewed did not give Validio's headcount or earlier round sizes.
