Wabi, a personal AI assistant company founded by Replika creator Eugenia Kuyda, has raised $55m at a $1.25bn valuation. The round was led by IVP, with Andreessen Horowitz, Forerunner and the Amazon Alexa Fund taking part. Wabi announced the funding on 29 October 2026 in a release datelined San Francisco.
Kuyda described the round as a Series A in a post announcing the news, according to Runtime Wire. The company's own release did not name the stage, and it did not say whether the valuation was measured before or after the new money.
A group of well-known technology founders and executives also invested as individuals: Shopify's Tobi Lütke, Salesforce's Marc Benioff, Marissa Mayer, Dick Costolo and Alex Pall.
“AI shouldn't just save people time. It should help them spend it better, doing more of what they love.”Eugenia Kuyda, Founder and CEO, Wabi
What Wabi does
Wabi sells itself as a personal AI assistant that people use together rather than alone. The product combines an AI agent with small personalised apps and shared spaces. Examples in the announcement include a shared list of restaurants, a meal plan that turns into a grocery list, a book club tracker, and help with family schedules, homework, booking appointments and planning trips.
The app runs on iOS, Android and Mac, and the company says a Windows version is coming. Kuyda announced Wabi 2.0 publicly in a post on X on 19 October 2026, according to Unite.AI, so the funding arrived about ten days after the product's wider launch.
The release pointed to strong early demand after the public launch but gave no user numbers, revenue or other usage figures.
Who invested
IVP led the round. Alex Lim, a general partner at the firm, pointed to Kuyda's sense of where AI is going and her record of building consumer products. Andreessen Horowitz has backed Kuyda since the pre-seed stage: a16z led a $20m pre-seed round in Wabi, described in a post from November 2025, according to Unite.AI.
Anish Acharya, a general partner at a16z, said in the release that personal agents need more than a chat window. Forerunner, a consumer-focused venture firm, and the Amazon Alexa Fund, Amazon's investment arm for voice and AI products, also joined.
Kuyda previously founded Replika, an AI companion app. Andreessen Horowitz has said Replika reached 40 million users, according to Unite.AI.
What the money is for
Wabi said it will use the money for continued product development and expansion. It did not say how many people it employs or where it plans to hire.
The release gave no usage or revenue figures to set against the $1.25bn valuation, and it did not say how the company plans to make money from the assistant.
Wabi's bet is that an assistant built around groups, such as families, friends and book clubs, will stand apart from AI assistants designed for one person at a time. Kuyda said the goal is for AI to help people spend their time better, not only save it.
