Duppla, a Colombian company that buys homes for families and rents them with an option to buy, raised about $60m in a mix of debt and equity, according to Portafolio and Valora Analitik. The round was reported on 30 July 2026.
A fund managed by Patria Investments led it. Skandia Planeación Financiera, Cometa, Grupo Pegasus and Nazca also took part, alongside other national and international investors. The split between debt and equity was not disclosed, and neither was a valuation.
Diego Chona, a partner at Patria, said the deal was the firm's first venture capital operation in Colombia.
Valora Analitik said the capital will fund the expansion of the model and wider geographic coverage.
“Hoy esta ronda no solo fortalece nuestra capacidad de crecer, sino que representa un voto de confianza de inversionistas institucionales”Cristian Villamizar, Co-founder, Duppla
What Duppla does
Duppla targets families that can pay a monthly instalment but cannot get a mortgage, for example because their income is informal or they lack a down payment. The family picks a home, Duppla buys it and rents it to them, and the two sign a promise of sale that can be completed within up to five years, according to Portafolio.
The company says families can start with a down payment from 15%, compared with about 30% usually required by banks. Valora Analitik described the period as time in which the family builds the financial history needed to qualify for a mortgage later.
Portafolio and Forbes Colombia reported that Duppla also packages rental cash flows into investment vehicles backed by residential rent, which it sells to institutional investors, and continues to manage the properties. Forbes added that each property is held in a trust administered by a fiduciary.
Who is behind it
Cristian Villamizar and Felipe Fierro are the founders. Portafolio dates the company to 2022, while Forbes Colombia says it was founded in 2020 and began commercial operations in 2022.
Duppla works in Bogotá and nearby municipalities and has helped more than 300 families, according to Portafolio and Valora Analitik. Forbes reported that women make up 64% of its customers and that Skandia bought 90% of a residential portfolio from the company in 2023. Employee numbers and earlier funding rounds were not reported.
Portafolio said the target customers are families with the capacity to pay but without access to a traditional mortgage.
Who invested
Portafolio described Patria as one of the largest alternative asset managers in Latin America. Skandia's Colombian chief executive, Santiago García, said the insurer found in Duppla a differentiated proposal with the capacity to execute.
Villamizar said the round strengthens the company's ability to grow and represents a vote of confidence from institutional investors.
What the money is for
Portafolio reported that the funds will expand Duppla's capacity to originate homes, strengthen its residential rental investment platform and extend its geographic reach. Medellín is the next market it named.
The announcement suggests the company will keep relying on institutional capital to buy homes, since each purchase must be financed before the family completes its own.
