Galaxea AI raises nearly ¥2bn Series B+ for embodied AI robots, weeks after its Series B

The Beijing robotics company, founded in 2023, closed the round about seven weeks after a ¥1bn Series B, with Lens Technology and state-backed funds among nearly 20 investors.

Galaxea AI, a Beijing company that develops embodied-intelligence robots and the AI models that drive them, raised nearly CNY2bn (about $290m) in a Series B+ round announced on 2 April 2026, according to Yicai Global, Caixin and CXO Digital Pulse.

Yicai said the investors were industrial investors, leading long-term funds and state-backed capital. Caixin said there were nearly 20 institutional investors, including Lens Technology, which is also Galaxea's hardware and mass-production partner, and state-backed funds. No other investor was named in the reports reviewed, and no lead was identified.

The dollar conversion differs slightly between outlets: Yicai and CXO Digital Pulse gave $290.4m and Caixin gave $291m. This article uses about $290m. The reports did not say whether any investor led the round.

A second round within weeks

The round came shortly after a Series B of nearly CNY1bn. Caixin reported that the Series B closed on 11 February and valued the company at CNY10bn. Yicai described the new money as following that round by weeks.

The reports disagreed about the valuation after the new round. Yicai gave CNY200bn, while Caixin gave above CNY20bn, a tenfold difference. Because the sources conflict, this article does not state a post-round valuation.

What Galaxea builds

Galaxea develops vision-language-action (VLA) models, which let a robot turn what it sees and a spoken or written instruction into physical movement, along with robot platforms. CXO Digital Pulse named the models G0 and G0 Plus and a robot line called the R1 series, and described a full-stack approach covering algorithms, hardware and data infrastructure. Caixin's photo caption described the company's product as a humanoid robot.

Yicai said Galaxea has open-sourced three VLA models and develops them together with what it calls World Action Models. It uses a data engine built from real-world embodied data, in contrast to rival Galbot, which relies on simulation. Yicai noted that the real-data approach brings difficulty in collecting data, higher costs and slower scalability. It placed Galaxea in the top tier of China's embodied AI start-ups alongside Galbot.

What the money is for

Yicai reported that Galaxea will use the funds to scale research and development of foundation models, expand its global ecosystem, advance its VLA and World Action Models built on real data, and speed up large-scale commercial deployment of embodied AI. CXO Digital Pulse said only that the company is positioning itself to scale its robotics work.

Yicai paraphrased chief financial officer Luo Tianqi as expecting more than half of China's eventual top ten embodied AI companies to come from the current generation of start-ups.

Company details

Yicai and CXO Digital Pulse gave Beijing as the company's base and 2023 as the year it was founded. None of the reports named the founders or gave a headcount. Caixin's article was behind a paywall after its opening section, so some details may appear only in the full text.

Caixin identified Lens Technology by its Shenzhen stock listing, a reminder that one of the investors is a listed company, and said that company is also Galaxea's partner for hardware and mass production.
